Not Quite Opera presents Round One, an evening of new songs by Bay Area composers of musical theater at the Alcove Theater, including three songs from The Texas Chainsaw Musical! as well as many other amazing compositions by Bay Area musical theatre composers.

AUDITION NOTICE

Not Quite Opera Productions will be auditioning SINGERS for its next Round One Cabaret Saturday, January 21, from 10am to 4pm at The Alcove Theater, 414 Mason Street, Ste 502, San Francisco.

Round One Cabaret is a quarterly showcase of original musical theater songs by local composers. The April show features music and lyrics by Joe Blodgett, Cory Bytof (Texas Chainsaw Musical!), John Quick, Liz Salk, Owen Dockham, Pat Morris, Randy Kasten, Sandy Kasten, Richard Jennings, Ron Lytle.

Show Dates: Friday, Saturday, April 20 and 21 at 8pm. Sunday April 22 at 4pm.

Casting 6 singers – 3 women (1 sop, 1 mezzo, 1 alto), and 3 men (1 tenor, 1 high baritone, 1 baritone), in a wide age range (20 to 50), who can belt and/or sing legit. Need strong solo singers who can harmonize and work well in a group.

This particular evening features excellent solo songs for comic/character types and middle-aged singers, as well as young romantic lead types.

“Chainsaw” Heads to Cleveland, OH – Jan, 2012

The Texas Chainsaw Musical!‘s first performance of the year will be in Cleveland, OH from Jan 20 – Feb 12, 2012. It will be the first production for the newly-formed, Blank Canvas Theatre. For Producer-director Patrick Ciamacco, the horror-comedy musical genre is familiar territory, having previously starred in and produced Evil Dead, The Musical to rave reviews. The material is in good hands. “This is the first time we’ve had a fan of the genre direct the show, so there’s a genuine love and understanding of how the show should be performed. This is going to be the best Chainsaw yet”, author Christopher t. Minori says.

“American Idol” star attaches to “Texas Chainsaw Musical!” Screenplay

American Idol Season 9 star, Katelyn Epperly, attaches to The Texas Chainsaw Musical!. Ms Epperly won viewers over with her renditions of The Beatles’ “Oh, Darling!” and Coldplay’s “The Scientist”. She has attached to the role of Kristy, who finds herself the object of Eddy’s desire and Steven’s salvation. Katelyn has currently released her EP titled “From the Basement”, featuring 4 songs: “Heart Strings”, “Puppeteer”, “Lady” and a bonus track of King of Leon’s “Use Somebody.” Her full length album is anticipated to be released on Valentines Day, February 14, 2012. We’re very excited to be able to introduce this rising starlet in her first feature film.

“The Texas Chainsaw Musical!” invades Las Vegas in 2012

Las Vegas, 10/2012 – – Yes, they’re serious. That’s the question writing partners Cory Bytof and Christopher t. Minori are usually asked when they begin talking about their play The Texas Chainsaw Musical! “It started as a joke,” Minori explains. “Cory and I were acting in a play together. In the playbill, I wrote that my next project was going to be The Texas Chainsaw Musical.” Minori had no intention of actually writing the play, but he was constantly asked when it was going to come out, and eventually decided to put pen to paper. Meanwhile, Bytof had moved to California and began writing music. The two hooked up again after 10 years apart, and Minori offered Bytof the chance to pen the musically diverse songs. The Texas Chainsaw Musical is not based on the 1974 horror film. Rather, it is based on the same events that The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Psycho, and Silence of the Lambs are all based on—Wisconsin serial killer, Ed Gein. Minori says, “We wondered what this guy would have been like as a kid. So we took a few things from his life, and then completely made everything else up. It was easier than doing any research.” In the play, Eddy Gee has been tormenting the residents of Plainfield, Texas since he was a child. After killing his mother, Eddy snaps and goes on a rampage, but things get problematic when he falls in love with one of his intended victims. Minori: “Think of it as Love Story… with a chainsaw.” The Texas Chainsaw Musical! will have its Las Vegas debut at the Onyx Theatre in October, 2012 (just in time for End of Days, so get your tickets now!)
